Note: All equipment will be provided for students, including: surf boards, wetsuits, and boogie boards. PCSL is insured and provides wetsuits, surfboards, leashes, boogie boards, and instruction. Students can take the bus to the tennis court drop-off where they will meet coach Nick. Parent pick-up will be back at the tennis courts at 5:30pm.
This 2hr surf club hosts kids ages 7-14 to continue to improve their surf skills and techniques throughout the school year. Nick O’Connor’s extensive background as a first responder, ocean rescuer and lifelong Bolinas surfer, provides the safety each student deserves while learning to surf in the thralls of the ocean. By being in a weekly class with other kids, we find our surfers excel through peer support and consistency. Throughout the session they will learn how the sand moves, waves change and patterns emerge. Bolinas is surfable year round and we cannot wait to host your child on a weekly basis to continuously boost their surf confidence and stay ocean fit.

Bolinas-Stinson School Aikido Sessions, Quesada
Wednesdays, 4:00–5:00 PM
Session dates: starting on 3/11/2026
Aikido is a unique martial art dedicated to resolving conflict peacefully and without harm. Through consistent practice, students develop meaningful life skills such as cooperation, self-confidence, focus, and self-discipline. Training also strengthens physical coordination, balance, and the ability to fall safely—skills that support both athletic growth and everyday confidence. Parents are warmly invited to enroll their child for a trial experience in class. Continued participation will be offered to students who demonstrate focus, respect, and the ability to follow Sensei’s instructions. For those continuing, a training uniform is required and may be purchased
through the instructor.
Sensei Ruth Lopez brings over 15 years of experience teaching children and is passionate about creating a positive, structured, and encouraging learning environment. We look forward to welcoming your child to the mat!
Class Details
Ages: 7–12
When: Wednesdays, 4:00–5:00 pm
Cost: $45 for four classes
The pilot session offers children a chance to experience aikido before committing to longer sessions. For the pilot, children should wear loose, comfortable clothing suitable for tumbling. Students continuing beyond the pilot will be required to wear a dogi (training uniform), which can be purchased through Ruth Sensei.
Please email Ruth to sign-up for the pilot session: KangaRuth17@gmail.com
Please note, if students are enrolled in the Living Room, a parent or guardian
will need to coordinate their movement from the Living Room field trip or

Strings with Genevieve (violin, viola, and cello)
Sign-up link: https://forms.gle/6emo2uV1Qsdxnj9P7
I am happy to offer group string lessons for students in grades 2-8.
When: Thursdays at, 3:05-4:05
The first class will be on January 8th, 2026
Class end date: April 30th, 2026
Where: 3rd grade classroom
In this class we will:
-learn how to take care of our instrument
-engage in the art and discipline of practice
-begin learning how to read music
-learn basic fingering and bowing technique
-play simple songs
-experience the joy of making music together
Learning a stringed instrument at a young age is an excellent skill to carry into life. And in case you didn't know, strings are really cool.
Cost: The price per semester is $280. Scholarships are available.
Getting an instrument:
We will do our best to provide instruments. There are a few violins at the school. There are no cellos or violas. If we are unable to match you with an instrument, you can easily rent one. I highly recommend renting through StringWorks.com. Through String Works, Instruments can be delivered right to Bolinas. The cost will be approximately
$15-$ 20 per month.I can help determine the correct size instrument for your child.
Shoulder rests will also be necessary. StringWorks can outfit the violins with shoulder rests, or they can be easily purchased. All other materials will be provided.
Just so you know, I am a violin player, and so primarily I can teach violin and viola.
Cello is not my instrument, but I do love it. Naiya played cello with us last year, and it
was a fabulous addition. I am determined to find a way to make it work if there are
students interested in learning cello. Please email me if your child is interested in joining the string class and if you have any questions.
